baseball, cherish, Dad, Father, game, mental, remember

I was chatting online with someone visiting their Dad and in closing I mentioned ‘cherish you time with him’. Late that evening the Cleveland Indians were playing ball in Chicago. So here is how it all come full circle.
Dad born in Cleveland, worked at Hotpoint in Chicago and loved baseball. I can’t watch the game without hearing him manage a game. He loved baseball, not only the physicality of the game but the mental process of what to do.
Find the join in your Dad’s life, learn it, love it and let it stay with you always.

Drawn to it

bible, Dad, drawing, kindness

I had breakfast at the McD’s near work periodically and this morning at the table next to me were 3 gentlemen having a bible session.  It reminded me of Dad and his group gathering to read, share and catch up on life in general.  I was hearing the same bits of conversation from them.

As I got ready to leave one of the men handed me a piece of paper.  It was an amazing wonderful sketching he had done while I was sitting there.

So now I have a simple piece of paper that I will frame as a reminder of Dad and the world is filled with the kindness of others.

Buckeyes, Dad, gone

Last night Dad went home to Mom and David.  It was quiet and peaceful, but now too quiet.

The Buckeyes are playing and it just struck me that I can’t call him.  For years and years we would talk during and after the games.  Though we were across the country from each other we watched the games together.

I can remember a year that we would watch the ends of the games holding our collective breath.  Buckeyes were National Champs that year.

So watching the game today is a bit hollow.  I’m sure that will go away and I will still talk to Dad and know he is looking down on the game.
