Wonderful concept, congrats!
It was to be a quick and simple trip, pickup milk. Got to the car and opened the door for Lola and then my door, caught a glimpse of something shiny and pulled back to see what it was.
Spider web from the steering wheel to the seat and up to the visor! If I had sat down I would have had a spider on my nose and screaming like a little girl!!
Found a stick and attempted to gently remove the said spider to somewhere else with something more it’s size to eat. Touched the web to get him out in a flash like Spider Man he disappeared up to the ceiling. So much for the gentle touch… I figured if I got in to drive it would drop down and latch onto my nose and back to screaming like a little girl!
Found him, I know it was a him because he was playing hid and seek. If it was a girl she would have gone for my throat, end of story and the little girl thing again. So hiding in the visor I took the stick to try the removal thing again. Spider took a 200 ft, in spider dimensions, leap to the seat and headed for the crack at the back of the seat. Thoughts of spider crawling into the back of my pants flooded my mind briefly and I cut him off and flicked him out of the car. Last I saw he was running under the car.
I’m wait for him to find his way back into the car, drop down from the visor and give me the finger, then grab my nose, screaming girl again.
Welcome to Saturday, hope your day to quiet and uneventful…
Tip of the hat to John Grech for the spider image.
Went to Rockbridge State Nature Preserve today to photograph the falls for Exploring Ohio photo magazine. Rockbridge only runs after a good rain and we have been hit pretty good here lately. I must say that Rockbridge is quite a hike. Not for the faint of heart, bad knees or hips, nor heart issues, plus if you don’t like heights then you don’t want to walk the rockbridge it’s self. No guard rails, just straight down. Looking forward to spring and a green walk. So the story goes like this… when in your head you keep repeating ‘this is a bad idea’ over and over you would think it’s a bad idea. But then as a photographer logic sometimes, a lot of the time, goes out the window. ‘The’ place to get the photo was down a very steep bank covered in leaves after a lot of rain. Would be a hard climb down and very difficult back up given the extra weight of gear and wet leaves covering the ground, but then…
Once down the realization for getting back up sinks in, not good. Did I mention I’m not 20 something anymore, did my mind remind my body of that??? NO… but then you are a photographer and can do anything. Like taking a swim in the creek! Fortunately I had set the camera’s up on the rocks in a safe place and moved the phones to the camera vest before slipping on the wet rocks and doing a face plant in the creek. Did you know that the rather light Nike hiking boots get very heavy with filled with water.
So the moral of the story is don’t think like a photographer sometimes, be reasonable, think like a normal human being. But then I’m an old school shooter, photojournalist. In the end I got the picture.

The scenery to and from the falls is quite nice. Go when it’s a bit dryer though. :-]
Last week was fun running from Roscoe Village Apple Butter festival to Circleville Pumpkin Show and in the evenings attending my first HighBall. At the end of each evening after running up and down High street finished and home bound I passed 2 completely different worlds from what was running the streets. A reverse zoo sort of thing with people in restaurants watching the crazies passing by and then inside the bars a whole other party cranked up from a Frat/sorority mixer at Granero Lounge to the HighBall moving inside at the Union Cafe.
So depending on who you think is upscale or not and where to go for the ‘most’ fun, well that’s something fun for you to find out. But for me… well let the pictures speak… first Friday then Saturday.
